Teaching module for cutting the platform gratings.

Platform gratings are in common use for cov-ering of passageways, ducts, construction ele-ments, in industrial buildings, as well as in commonly used buildings, in power industry, mining, on drilling platforms, refineries, ship building industry, etc. To ensure a modern technology of production of platform gratings which guarantee high quality, and enable the possibility to make plates of various shapes and dimensions we started a special produc-tion line. The flame cutting machine has been equipped with a self learning module for meshes of the plate along the calculated path of the torch (cutting trajectory).

Oxy cutting process is a thermal process to cut the steel. The material is locally heated to the ignition temperature and burned with addition of oxygen. Generated heat and addition of oxygen make possible stable burning of the material in the stream of oxygen. Burning pro-cess comes into the material in the direction of movement of the torch feed. To enable cutting a grid it is necessary to stop the torch on the edge of each grid. Basic flat steel bars (longitudinal) take a big load. Because of this, despite a low thickness (couple of mm), sometimes they are of a big width (e.g. 70mm). Such a design causes that despite a relatively short flame cutting length we have a cutting of a very big thickness.

The teaching module stores positions of steel bars - longitudinal and transverse. Next the system recalculates the trajectory in the way that cutting machine stops on each edge and generates the process for heating and cutting. To increase productivity - inside a mesh a rapid traverse is generated to the next cutting edge. This solution enables cutting without changing the control program on the machine if the meshes of platform gratings change (po-sition or size).The system is especially useful if cutting the holes and cut-outs (particularly curvilinear) both in platform gratings made as pushed in and pressure welded.
